Embark on an enchanting tale with Amy Owens, one of Cerulean’s esteemed Luxury Travel Advisors, who has recently returned from a captivating journey to Egypt! Famous for its timeless wonders and rich history.
We sat down with Amy to hear about her insider tips, hidden gems, and must-dos in this historic country. You’ll enjoy her photos and stories!
Where did you stay in Egypt?
Egypt is known for its luxurious accommodations that offer spectacular views and unparalleled comfort. I stayed in Cairo at the Marriott Mena House, which boasts stunning views of the Giza Pyramids.
“Let’s talk about those views! Dining at 139 Pavilion with the Pyramids as a backdrop was an unforgettable experience,” Amy shared.
What were your must-visit sites and experiences in Egypt?
Egypt is brimming with incredible sites and experiences. Here are Amy’s top recommendations:
- Visit: Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) “Just outside of Cairo on the Giza Plateau, next to the Pyramids, is the new crown jewel of Egypt. Upon opening, this will be the largest archaeological museum in the world.”
- Explore: Coptic Cairo and the Hanging Church “Strolling through Old Cairo and visiting the Hanging Church was fascinating. Coptic refers to Coptic Orthodox Christians, the largest Christian denomination in Egypt and the Middle East.”
- Admire: Alabaster Mosque (Muhammad Ali Mosque), Cairo Citadel “This Ottoman mosque, the largest to be built in the first half of the 19th century, is stunning with its animated silhouette and twin minarets.”
- Experience: Cruising the Nile “A Nile cruise is a must! We explored the Philae Temple and the Valley of the Kings. Most itineraries include 4 to 7 nights sailing between Luxor and Aswan, and its temples, temples, and more temples!”
What were some insider tips and fun facts from your trip?
Amy’s journey was enriched by the knowledge and expertise of her guides.
“Our private guides were Egyptologists—archaeologists, historians, linguists, or art historians who specialize in Egyptology, the scientific study of Ancient Egypt and its antiquities. Their insights made the experience even more special,” she said.
